چکیده
We performed a seismic vulnerability assessment that involves geotechnical and building structure analysis for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, city located along the pacific coast. like many other Latin American cities, has significant risk. implemented multichannel of surface waves horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio methods to estimate shear wave velocity soil resonance frequency. considered standard penetration test determine resistance classification. divided Vallarta into four zones according taxonomy based on construction materials structural systems story number height. The VS30 parameter shows types C, D, E National Earthquake Hazard Reduction Program (NEHRP). classified three estimated fundamental period, TS. Both TS parameters showed an overall transition properties from mountain toward valley area. tests corroborate results geophysical methods. correlation between period most common at each zone indicates high vulnerability. identify effects principally south coast Vallarta. This work combines academic governmental efforts solve real transcendental problem since it might directly affect regulation evaluations structures in

Places, Spaces and Bodies: Male-to-male Sex Tourism in Puerto Vallarta (Mexico)
From a geographical perspective, the article focuses on the sexual encounters of men who have sex with other men for money in Puerto Vallarta (Jalisco, Mexico). In these encounters, besides money, values, ideas, stereotypes and expectations circulate between clients and sex workers. In this context it explores (i) the process of consolidation of Vallarta as a gay “place” for international touri...
متن کاملRainfall-induced landslide susceptibility zonation of Puerto Rico
Landslides are a major geologic hazard with estimated tens of deaths and $1–2 billion in economic losses per year in the US alone. The island of Puerto Rico experiences one or two large events per year, often triggered in steeply sloped areas by prolonged and heavy rainfall. Identifying areas susceptible to landslides thus has great potential value for Puerto Rico and would allow better managem...

متن کاملGeotechnical Interaction of Piled Raft Foundations: Two Case Studies
Application of pile-raft foundations, which are known as “compound foundations”, is a suitable alternative in the case of heavy load structures. The interaction behavior of pile raft foundations makes these systems very complex to analyze. Different methods have been proposed to determine the bearing capacity of piled raft systems and distribution of loads between the components, i.e. pile grou...

natural hazards are among destructive agents that annually take thousands of lives and impose devastating damages in iran. spotting such a high risk areas can help reducing the amount of their probable risk. a 1:500000 liquefaction and landslide hazard zonation map developed for the southern shoreline of the caspian sea. this geotechnical hazard map divides the study area to 15 hazard classes (...
